Seminary of the Streets: “Innovative Leadership Using Asset-Based Community Development”
February 9, 6-8 p.m. (meal at 5:15 p.m.), Grace Center, 1500 6th St NE, Minneapolis
Jody Kretzmann, Co-founder and director of the Asset Based Community Development (ABCD) Institute will lead a discussion about how communities, congregations and organizations select certain groups of people to marginalize, often with the best of intentions. How does help hurt? How can service be enslaving? And what can we do to keep the unintended consequences of our good will from overwhelming its recipients? Perhaps part of the answer lies in the recognition that gifts, talents, skills and dreams are universal, and that the key to inclusion lies in this recognition. Online registration>

2012 ELCA Youth Gathering

ELCA youth will gather—again—in New Orleans, to stand with the saints of God in that place. Why go back? Because New Orleans has more to teach us about fresh starts made possible by the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. New Orleans has more to teach us about generosity and about how to be good neighbors. New Orleans has more to teach us about the house that God is building. Please join us in the summer of 2012 in New Orleans. There is more to be done, and more to learn. Go to www.elca.org/gathering and become part of the movement, ELCA for NOLA!
