Book of Faith Initiative

The purpose of the Book of Faith Initiative is to increase biblical literacy and fluency for the sake of the world.

The Book of Faith is an initiative of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. The Book of Faith initiative invites the whole church to become more fluent in the first language of faith, the language of Scripture, in order that we might live into our calling as a people renewed, enlivened, empowered, and sent by the Word.

The Minneapolis Area Synod task force on Book of Faith has been working hard to aid congregations to help our people access the Scriptures so that lives can be inspired and we can grasp the great gift of grace provided for us in the person of Jesus.

Minneapolis Area Synod Book of Faith Resources

Visit Wittenberg, Eisenach, Halle, Leipzig, Herrnhut, and Mainz, places in Martin Luther’s life and ministry plus Prague, where church reformer Jan Hus preached 100 years before Luther. Attend the Wittenberg Reformation Festival on October 31.

Comprehensive program includes international airfare from New York, a carefully planned and paced schedule of sites, accommodations, most meals, activities and educational programming. The leadership team is Dr. Diane Jacobson, Professor Emeritus of Old Testament at Luther Seminary and Director of the Book of Faith Initiative, and Rev. Dick Bruesehoff, pastor and recent Director for Lifelong Learning. Contact Dr. Jacobson, DJacobso@luthersem.edu or Rev. Dick Bruesehoff, Richard.Bruesehoff@elca.org.
